What are the benefits of using a pet sitter?2021-08-11T19:35:43-05:00

Your pets can enjoy staying in their own home in familiar surroundings while being cared for by an insured professional pet sitter. Your animals will receive lots of love and attention while you are away and their routine will not be disrupted. A boarding facility can be a traumatic place for your pet, not to mention the possibility that your dog may become ill due to stress or a contagious illness from another pet.  We will watch over your home, bring in mail, water your plants, turn on/off lights and take out the trash while you are away, and we will update you about your animals and home.

Am I going to meet the pet sitter before I start my service?2021-08-11T19:36:25-05:00

Yes, we offer a free introductory visit to our clients to go over all the pet care details and instructions. The pet sitter you meet is the pet sitter who is going to visit your animals while you are away.

Do I need to register before I meet the pet sitter?2021-08-11T19:38:44-05:00

Yes, to keep us and our fellow pet sitters safe we ask our clients to register with their name, email and home address prior to our complimentary introduction visit. After meeting your pet sitter and you decide that we are a perfect match to your pet care needs, you can log on and add your veterinarian name and number, pet(s) information, pet medical history, and security system codes if you choose.  We will also need a key to your home.

How are my keys handheld?2021-08-11T19:39:05-05:00

For your security, keys are labeled with your pet’s name only, NOT with  your name and address and it is kept in a secure location of your pet sitter’s home.

How many pet visits do you recommend while I am away?2021-08-11T19:39:29-05:00

What will happen if my animals need medical attention while I am away?2021-08-11T19:40:56-05:00

If an emergency should occur or your pets get sick, your pet sitter will follow the emergency instructions you provided on your client profile. We will contact you and your emergency contacts right away and take your pet to the vet.

What if my pet sitter has an emergency while I am away?2021-08-11T19:41:19-05:00

If your pet sitter has an emergency, we will contact you for your approval before sending over another qualified pet sitter to take care of your pets. All of our pet sitters are trained, insured, and bonded.

What shall I expect when I arrive home after my trip?2021-08-11T19:41:43-05:00

We ask you that you let us know when you return home so we can be sure that you have arrived home and that you no longer need us to care for your pets. Delays often happen, therefore we assume that you have not arrived until we hear from you. We will continue to visit your animals until you confirm that you are home.

What if I need to cancel my scheduled pet sitting?2021-08-11T19:42:03-05:00

There is no need to worry, we are flexible and there is no cancellation fee. We only ask you to please let us know the changes as soon as possible, so we can change our schedule accordingly.

We recommend our dog owner clients to let us visit their dog early in the morning, midday, dinner time, and again at late night, but some dogs can hold it if we visit two or three times a day. Cats need one or two visits a day, while birds are ok with one visit a day.

Overnight pet sitting is when we spend the night in our client’s home from about 8:30/9 pm until around 6:30/7 am. We make sure that your dogs have a pee break when we arrive in the evening and again before we leave in the morning.

Our clients who need us for overnight pet sitting let us use their guest room or a sofa to sleep on. We usually do one midday and a dinner visit additionally to our overnight pet sitting, but we can visit as often as you like.

Can I get an update from your pet sitter while I am out of town?2022-07-09T01:32:52-05:00

Once you are our registered client you can download our free app where we send photos and notes each time we visit your animals. Our update also included a GPS record with the time of arrival and departure. This is the place where you can leave us messages too. This app is a 3-way communication between our clients, pet sitters, and our office. Please don’t ask or use our pet sitter’s private phone number. We invested in the right communication system to ensure that we are not missing a visit for your animals.

Is there an additional charge if I have more animals?2021-08-11T19:46:02-05:00

No, we at House and Hound Care do not charge extra if you have multiple animals. We charge by the length of the visit. If you need us late night, weekends or holidays, we have an additional $5 surcharge.

Do I have to provide a key for the pet sitter?2021-08-11T19:46:42-05:00

Yes. We keep your key in a safe place labeled with your pet name. Most of our clients leave their key with us on file so when you travel again we already have the key. If you prefer to pick up and drop off your key each time you are traveling we will charge you a $15 key pick up and drop off fee. You can also hide your key or use a lock box to avoid the key pick-up fee. If we have your key on file you can always call us for a last-minute visit if you are stuck at work.
